Jacobs Wins Radio Ink's Luminary Award

The winners of Radio Ink's second annual Digital Awards were announced at Convergence 12, taking place now at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California's Silicon Valley.
Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs was named the winner of the Luminary Award, presented each year to an individual with a strong track record of leadership and innovation in radio digital platforms for at least a decade. At left, Jacobs, in the center, receives the award from Radio Ink Publisher Eric Rhoads and Ruth Presslaff of Presslaff Interactive Revenue, which sponsored the Digital Awards.

Jacobs said, "This is a great honor, and a real tribute to what we've been able to accomplish as a company. We have always wanted to walk the walk, and this award is a very nice acknowledgment that we're on the right path. We've come a long way, from the Classic Rock guys to The Luminary Award at Convergence.  We are truly honored."

Premiere Radio Networks took the award for Best Brand Extension Through Streaming (Platform) for, while Cox Media Group's WBAB/Nassau-Suffolk was awarded Best Brand Extension Through Streaming (Event) for its Van Halen Day promotion.
CBS Local Digital Media took the prize for Best Use of Social Media, while the UK's Absolute Radio won Best Client-Focused Digital Solution for its innovative Instream Targeted Advertising. Most Original Database/Digital Marketing Campaign went to Bold Gold Media's WDNB/Jeffersonville, NY, for its take on a Brad Paisley concert promotion.
Best big-market station website:, the site for Emmis' Rhythmic KPWR/Los Angeles. In markets 101-plus, the winner for Best Radio Station Website is Big River Broadcasting's
The Radio Ink Digital Awards begin with nominations from readers. The many nominees are then narrowed down to a list of finalists, and a panel of judges selects the winner in each category. Congratulations to all the winners!
