(AUDIO) Toyota's Plan For The Dash


As we've been telling you about for quite some time now, the automobile dashboard has become the battleground for consumer content. What automotive dealers present on the dash - and how easy it is to understand and use - have become an important part of decision making process when purchasing an automobile. Toyota has been tweaking and refining its product called Entune ever since it's launch at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2011. Toyota's Vice President for Advanced technology Jon Bucci tells Radio Ink "We are blazing new ground here, trying to curate the environment." Bucci is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of electronics-related products and services for Lexus, Toyota and Scion products. 

Entune delivers new levels of connectivity from inside a Toyota. It allows you to search for a nearby coffee shop, listen to radio stations across the country, make dinner reservations,  purchase movie tickets or enjoy a playlist you created. With all that going on, we wondered about the safety of the driving environment. Buzz Knight interviewed Bucci about the product, radio's role on the Toyota dashboard and how seriously the company takes the safety issue.
