Just One of Radio's Great PD's
In the upcoming issue of Radio Ink magazine, we list our annual list of great PD's. Greg Solk of Hubbard Radio is one of those great PD's who made the list. Greg will be featured along with many other Program Director's who's names you will recognize, and other up-and-comers who are representing their stations and our industry so professional. Solk made some comments for this issue that we had to share now in anticipation of the October 24th issue. They are very motivational words and a true testament to the power of radio.
The Words of Greg Solk. Sr. Vice President of Programming for Hubbard Radio
"I am so bored with all the radio haters and negative bloggers that spend their time living in the past, the so-called glory days of radio. It’s become so in vogue to trash our incredible industry that brightens the lives of millions and helps thousands of local communities. This past month, WTMX Chicago and the incredible morning team of Eric and Kathy conducted their 12th Annual Radiothon for Children’s Memorial hospital of Chicago. In 36 hours our amazing staff led by PD Mary Ellen Kachinske and Marketing Director Dave Karwowski raised over $1.8 million dollars for the hospital. In the 12 years of the Radiothon, Eric and Kathy and WTMX have raised over 20 million dollars that stays right here in Chicago to help critically sick children. Radio has amazing power and the lives we touch (our listeners) make all the magic happen. I’d like to see Pandora, Accuradio, Slacker or any other so-called sexy flavor of the month internet music provider touch the hearts and mobilize their audience to do good in their communities—they can’t. Radio can and does all day long!"
