Remembering a Modern Day Visionary

Steve Jobs will be remembered as a modern day visionary like no other. We were all truly blessed to have witnessed his brilliance. It’s hard to believe he’s gone, yet he leaves a legacy that will carry on for generations to come. Let me try to put a simple perspective on what Steve Jobs meant to us by giving you five words that the radio industry can live by in tribute to his amazing life.

1) Transformative
This was the first word that smacked me over the forehead upon hearing of his recent passing. He challenged his organization to convert the way people think about music delivery, communication and beyond. This is a challenge our great business faces as we continue to explore new and exciting ways to engage with our audience.

2). Impeccable
Steve Jobs set the standard for flawless execution in every aspect of what his business created. How frequently has this topic come up in radio stations across the country?

3) Intense
The stories are legendary about Steve Jobs’ intensity.. He was driven to always find the core of greatness.

4) Pride
Steve Jobs always ran his company with immense pride for its accomplishments in the marketplace. It seemed that as far as he was concerned, no other competitors existed. His pride helped to contribute to his unbelievable ability to “sell” his ideas to the public.

5) Original
The word much like the others speaks for itself. Steve Jobs defined the word “original”.

Radio needs some of this vision. It's time to look to the future. Clear Channel, Beasley and some others are trying. Keep it up.
