Former NY Governor Patterson
It was announced yesterday that former New York State Governor David Paterson would be the new 4P-6P host on WOR-AM in New York City. Paterson tells Radio Ink the new job is the culmination of a couple of meetings he had with the late Rick Buckley. Paterson also tells Radio Ink he's not worried about the transition from one side of the mic to the other, he admires John Gambling and Larry King because of their reputations for fairness. He also says he was a bit surprised, as Governor, how the New York Press was not as competitive with each other as he thought they'd be. And as a talk show host he's letting his competitors know..."beware." He's planning to be competitive. Listen to our full interview with Paterson.
The program will be heard weekdays from 4 til 6pm. “During his frequent stints as a fill-in host on WOR, Governor David Paterson proved to be a favorite with our listeners throughout the tri-state area,” said Jerry Crowley, Vice President and General Manager of WOR. “He was the obvious choice to be the man behind the microphone as we extend our locally-focused drive-time programming to the afternoon.”
Paterson became New York's 55th governor on March 17, 2008. Governor Paterson left behind a legacy in Albany of sound fiscal management and a strong focus on job creation while protecting the state’s most vulnerable during one of the most difficult economic periods in our nation’s history. In total, the Paterson administration shaved $42 billion from the state deficit and was responsible for the creation of over 10,000 new jobs and the retention of more than 19,000 jobs in New York State. Governor Paterson is nationally recognized as a leading advocate for the visually and physically impaired. He is a member of the National Federation of the Blind and he serves on the Board of the Achilles Track Club. Governor Paterson earned his bachelor's degree in History from Columbia University in 1977, and completed his J.D. at Hofstra Law School in 1982 and is currently a Visiting Professor at New York University.
