KMRY Cedar Rapids Receives 2011 Iowa Better Business Bureau Integrity Award.
March 15, 2011
The folks at KMRY are very proud of their latest achievement as well they should be. KMRY President Rick Sellers says "as the licensee of this radio station, I take very seriously the credo the FCC set in motion back in 1934: to 'serve the public interest, convenience and necessity.' How we go about adhering to this original broadcaster directive affect both our advertisers AND audience in a positive manner, and I am very gratified that the Better Business Bureau has chosen to award us for these local efforts!"
In 1975 Sellers was Program Manager for KCRG-AM in Cedar Rapids and Broadcast Instructor at Kirkwood Community College. He later moved to WMT radio as Promotion Director where he remained for the next 22 years. During his years at WMT he was honored with three National Association of Broadcasters-NAB Marconi Awards. Sellers purchased KMRY in 1998. He has been and remains committed to locally owned broadcasting and serving the Cedar Rapids community. In 2000 Sellers was named “Iowa Broadcaster of the Year” for his exceptional leadership, work ethic and service to both his station and the Cedar Rapids community. He has also won several awards from the NAB.
