RAB Taking Nominations For 2011 Radio Mercury. $100,000 Up For Grabs

The Radio Mercury Awards is celebrating 20 years. In honor of this anniversary, the $100,000 Grand Prize is now $100,000 Best of Show with all finalists in all categories eligible to win the top award. A new Radio Campaign prize will also be awarded. The awards competition is officially open for submissions into Radio’s richest awards program.
“Twenty years ago our business was a very different landscape; we’re evolving the Radio Mercury Awards with new media and emerging technology opportunities,” noted Jeff Haley, President and CEO, Radio Advertising Bureau, and Chair of the Radio Mercury Awards. “However, the hallmarks of great radio creative comes down to the root of the idea, and the writers and producers who bring it to life.  We look forward to honoring this year’s crop of engaging radio advertising.”
In addition to the $100,000 Best of Show, the Radio Mercury Awards will hand out prizes for best Radio Campaign and Integrated Radio Campaign, along with prizes for Agency/Production Company, Radio Station-Produced, Spanish-Language, Student-Produced and Public Service Announcement. A special anniversary awards ceremony will take place October 4, 2011 in New York during Advertising Week.
Entry deadline to the 2011 Radio Mercury Awards competition is July 15, 2011.  Complete details, rules, and entry fees are available at or by calling 212-681-7207.  Last year’s Radio Mercury Award-winning spots can also be heard on the website along with every spot ever recognized by the Radio Mercury Awards since 1992.  
The Radio Mercury Awards was established in 1992 to encourage and reward the development of effective and creative radio commercials. The annual Radio Mercury Awards competition draws entries from advertising agencies, production houses, radio stations, and educational institutions across the country. Approximately 17,000 commercials have competed for over $2.9 million in prizes.
