Doug Franklin Named To Head Cox Media Group

March 1, 2011

Cox Media Group has a new president, as Doug Franklin moves up from EVP. As head of CMG, Franklin will oversee Cox Enterprises' 86 radio stations, 15 TV outlets, eight daily newspapers and other print publications, all digital services, and Cox Reps. CMG also owns and operates leading direct-mail company Valpak. At CMG, Franklin succeeds Sandy Schwartz, who becomes president of Cox's Manheim automotive-services subsidiary. Schwartz has been with Cox since 1985.

"Doug is a seasoned veteran with a great understanding of our CMG properties and a great vision for their future," said Cox Enterprises President/CEO Jimmy Hayes, to whom Franklin reports. "He has played a major role in the integration and transformation of our media businesses, and I am confident in his ability to lead them to continued success."
