Big Deal: Dees Teams With Westwood One

February 1, 2011: Rick Dees Entertainment makes a big deal with Westwood One, bringing a full lineup of shows including The Daily Dees, Rick Dees 80s at 8, Rick Dees 90s at 9, Weekly Top 40 (archival) and The Teen Top 20 with Kevin Dees.

"These are innovative new products from one of the most recognizable brands in radio history, and it is a privilege to welcome Rick Dees to the Westwood One family," Westwood One EVP/Affiliate Sales  Dennis Green said. "Rick has been connecting with audiences and advertisers for over 20 years, and he's only getting better."

Dees said, "Having a single product on the Westwood One platform would be a thrill, but to have 10 is a dream come true! I'm excited to partner with these visionary companies to bring our topical, fun, and PPM-friendly shows to new audiences. It is the perfect time to launch our daily radio show, and having the Cumulus stations right out of the box is huge."

With the deal, Westwood One takes over syndication of the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 and Top 20 Countdown shows for CHR, AC, and Hot AC.

Cumulus On Board

More than 25 Cumulus Media stations have signed up for the new Westwood One-Dees Entertainment programming. Cumulus EVP/co-COO John Dickey said the company is "pleased to work with Rick's company to find quality solutions to fit its programming needs." He continued, "Rick is one of the biggest brands in radio. These new products like The Daily Dees are going to allow our radio stations to sound even more competitive and relevant to our listeners. We view Rick and his company as a true brand enhancer."
