RadioDNS Makes Its U.S. Debut At RadioTech Summit
May 31, 2010: The first U.S. on-air demonstration of the RadioDNS and RadioVIS standards will take place this week in the San Francisco area. The debut will be presented on Thursday, June 3 as part of Radio Ink's RadioTech Summit conference. RadioDNS chairman Nick Piggott will show live RadioVIS content displayed on RadioDNS-enabled receivers, from up to four Clear Channel Radio stations in the market.
RadioDNS is a developing standard that allows radio receivers with Internet connections to automatically find a radio station's corresponding website when the receiver is tuned to the station. This provides a method for radio stations to enhance their broadcast audio service with visual content, delivered online to RadioDNS-enabled receivers. RadioDNS doesn't require any additional content or data to be added to any FM station already running RDS, or to any AM or FM HD Radio station.
To date, RadioDNS receivers and services are only available in the U.K, and the RadioTech Summit event will feature the world's first live demonstration of RadioDNS in any other country. The RadioTech Summit, hosted by Radio Ink Technology Editor Skip Pizzi, will be held June 2 and 3 at the Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus in Mountain View.
