Astor SoCal Stations Set Talk Flip

March 9, 2010: Astor Broadcast Group makes a partnership deal with CRN Digital Talk Radio that will put a new "Southern California Talk" format on Astor's KSPA-AM/Ontario, CA, and KFSD/Escondido-San Diego.

The change is set for Monday on KSPA and will include Talk Radio Network's Mancow and Laura Ingraham; lifestyle show What's Cooking Today, hosted by CRN President/CEO Michael Horn, Paul Stern, and Eric Hines; CRN's Talk Back with Chuck Wilder; and TRN's Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Michael Savage, and Rusty Humphries. Horn also will be heard in overnights, along with a rotation of regular guest hosts.

KFSD will flip April 1, with Doug Stephan's Good Day from United Station Radio Networks in mornings, Westwood One's Dennis Miller, What's Cookin' Today and Talk Back, United Stations' Lou Dobbs, and Ingraham.

Horn said, "I have worked with [Astor Broadcast Group President] Art [Astor] for a long time, and he is a true radio pioneer. Individually the AM stations have been hard to sell. Our new partnership allows us to package Art's two AM stations together along with the lineups also being offered on one of our CRN channels. Together, our three outlets will provide a strong sales story for local and national advertisers alike."

Horn added that the lineups were also chosen to minimize tape-delayed programming and help create a local feel.

Art Astor said, "I haven't been this excited since I flipped Boss Radio and KORJ to KIK FM Country. This partnership highlights all of our strengths. We are bringing back some great talk talent to Southern California and creating a lucrative environment for advertisers."
