WRKO Goes Wall-To-Wall On MA Senate Vote
January 18, 2010: Entercom's News/Talk WRKO/Boston is providing comprehensive wall-to-wall coverage of the January 19 special election to fill the U.S. Senate seat opened by the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy last year.
The hotly contested race between Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Scott Brown has attracted national attention. WRKO will kick off daylong coverage with Tom Finneran and Todd Feinburg, followed by Talk Radio Network's Laura Ingraham with a national perspective on the election. Avi Nelson will air in place of Rush Limbaugh Monday-Wednesday on WRKO with local coverage, followed by Howie Carr at 3 p.m. He'll stay on the air an extra hour on Tuesday, until polls close at 8 p.m.
SRN's Special Coverage
Salem Radio Network, meanwhile, is also offering special election coverage, with White House correspondent Greg Clugston anchoring hourly newscasts from Boston on Tuesday and reporting live from Brown election headquarters. SRN will also produce a live network special, Massachusetts Votes: The Scott Heard Round the World, anchored by Hugh Hewitt, who'll also provide live election updates and talk with political analysts.
"The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is ground zero for the political world in 2010," SRN VP/News & Talk Programming Tom Tradup said. "Whether the victor os Martha Coakley or Scott Brown, this tight race in the ultra-liberal Bay State has send shockwaves through Washington, DC and the nation, so we will give SRN listeners the chance to have a front-row seat for all the action Tuesday evening."
