Nielsen: More Homes Going Cellphone-Only
December 21, 2009: The latest edition of the "Nielsen Convergence Audit" survey on voice, video, and data found that while 88 percent of U.S. homes now have a cellphone, most still keep a landline.
But the number of cellphone-only households is growing: Nielsen reports that, as of the second quarter of this year, 21 percent of U.S. households have only a cellphone, up from 18 percent in Q2 2008 and 15 percent in 2007. The gain comes both from households that have dropped landline service and from young adults starting new CPO households.
