Report: Will Dobbs Make Senate Bid?

November 16, 2009: The New York Post says United Stations Radio Networks host Lou Dobbs -- who last week abruptly left his nightly CNN cable show -- could be a "viable candidate" in the 2012 U.S. Senate race in New Jersey.

Citing political analysts, the paper says Dobbs, a registered Independent, could take aim at Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez in the 2012 election, with Dobbs seeing advantages from his name recognition and the fundraising ability that comes with it.

Monmouth University polling chief Patrick Murray told the paper, "Lou Dobbs would certainly be an early front-runner" for a senate nomination if he were to run, but added that Dobbs' tough position on illegal immigration could be a problem with New Jersey's substantial immigrant population.
