Pre-Orders Taken For Book Honoring Severino
October 26, 2009: Pre-orders are being taken now for Tom's Tricks, a new book honoring Emmis/Indianapolis VP/GM Tom Severino, who died of lung cancer earlier this year. Severino was famous for his sense of humor and love of practical jokes, and the book, written by his longtime colleague Jon Quick, chronicles the best of Severino's pranks.
"Tom was many things -- a devoted family man, an innovative leader and broadcaster, a compelling storyteller," Emmis Chairman/CEO Jeff Smulyan said. "As hard as he worked, he always had time to relax and enjoy life. One of his true loves was practical jokes. He delighted in keeping the office mood light, and truly embodied Emmis' 8th Commandment: Have fun -- don't take this too seriously."
Quick said, "Tom lived for laughter. Most importantly, it serves as a treasured memory of a man who believed in working hard, but also believed that life can be even more joyful when laughter is part of your day."
Tom's Tricks sells for $10, and net proceeds will be donated in Severino's name to the Riley Children's Foundation/Cancer Unit in Indianapolis. The book will be available in mid-November; information and pre-orders are available at www.tomseverinobook.com.
