Jelli Goes National With Triton Media

October 20, 2009: Triton Radio Networks has signed a syndication deal to offer Jelli's listener-driven programming to Triton's more than 4,500 radio affiliates nationwide. Triton's Dial Global will syndicate two daily Jelli programs -- Top 40 Jelli and Rock Jelli -- while Triton Digital offers stations customized 24/7 online Jelli services.
Jelli launched as a pilot program earlier this year, with a Sunday-night show on CBS Radio's KITS (Live 105) in San Francisco, giving listeners the chance to drive programming by making picks from a catalog of titles. The Jelli service, which debuts its beta today at www.jelli.net, also lets listeners vote songs up or down a playlist or can knock it off the air entirely -- even, if enough listeners band together, in mid-play. Chat rooms let listeners socialize and lobby for their favorite music, and an iPhone app is also in the works.
"With new media tools and services, Triton is elevating the direct relationships radio enjoys with its listeners, and Jelli is a fun way to infuse even greater excitement, and a dose of unpredictability, to live FM, HD, and streaming radio formats," Triton Digital Media VP/Strategy Jim Kerr said. "Jelli combines the engagement, challenge, and teamwork of a video game, the personalization and sharing of music we see in social networks, and a traditional broadcast that brings the experience to the masses."
Jelli also advances into Australia through a deal with Austereo, which will launch Hot 30 Jelli and offer a 24/7 online edition.
"This is the future of radio -- listeners in direct, active control of their radio station!" Austereo Digital Radio Content Director Jaime Chaux said. "Austereo is proud to be leading the worldwide charge with Jelli."
