Univision Makes Move At 96.3 In New York

October 14, 2009: Univision is making a change at its newly acquired 96.3 FM signal in New York, as the station on Thursday will become WXNY (X 96.3 FM), playing rhythmic hits. The company closed last week on a three-way deal and initially moved Tropical WCAA into the slot as it swapped places with WQXR, now a noncomm at 105.9 under new owner WNYC Radio.

WCAA's Luis Jimenez remains in mornings on the new X 96.3 FM, which has a full-market signal covering New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, reaching, Univision said, an additional 260,000 Hispanic listeners.

Univision Radio President/COO Gary Stone said, "This powerful station, WXNY X 96.3 FM, will provide New York and the surrounding areas of New Jersey and Connecticut with more diversity in music and entertainment."

WXNY will launch with a $25,000 listen-to-win contest.
