NFL Players' Union Objects To Limbaugh Bid
October 12, 2009: NFL Players Association Exec. Director DeMaurice Smith has complained to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell about a possible bid for the St. Louis Rams by a group that includes Rush Limbaugh, and is reportedly asking player to speak out against the deal as well.
Smith said in a statement, "I have asked our players to embrace their roles not only in the game of football but also as players and partners in the business of the NFL." He continued, "We also know that there is an ugly part of history, and we will not risk going backwards, giving up, giving in, or lying down to it."
Smith on Sunday clarified that the union has no role in franchise sales, ESPN reports, but said he would encourage players to express their views. The Limbaugh group is reportedly one of six potential bidders for the troubled Rams franchise.

(10/14/2009 8:44:04 AM) I suppose they'd rather the franchise go under instead- kind of like how all those newspapers went belly-up in the late 60s or early 70s in New York City? Wake up, folks, the unions DON'T have your best interests in mind. They used to be a good thing but no longer. To top it off, I hope Rush starts suing the crap out of these folks who make up quotes and attribute them to him. James Dobson only had to do it once and I'm betting Limbaugh won't have to do it much more. But he'd better get to it lest his political opposition turn him into a second class citizen. |
