Survey: TV, Radio Sites Continue To Grow

October 6, 2009: The latest RTNDA/Hofstra University web survey found that TV and radio websites are growing more complex, and stations are producing more content on more platforms. But only 38 percent of the news directors surveyed said they're confident their stations can handle all the new technology.
Radio and TV respondents said their audiences are most interested in local news and weather, and -- except in small-market newsrooms -- more and more staffers are helping out with station websites.
"The latest RTNDA/Hofstra University study holds a mirror up for us to see the immediate need for more editorial supervision and management vision when it comes to our news websites," said RTNDA Chairman Stacey Woelfel. "These sites have never been as important as they are now and are, of course, a primary path for us to deliver news to our audiences -- now and even more so in the future. This research gives every news director in America something to examine in his or her own newsroom."
