SRN Hosts To Deliver Health Care Petition

September 2, 2009: Salem Radio Network hosts Mike Gallagher, Dennis Prager, Janet Parshall, Michael Medved, and Hugh Hewitt will be in Washington, DC, on September 9 to deliver more than 1.2 million signatures on SRN's "Free Our Healthcare Now" petition, opposing the health care reform legislation now before Congress.

Sens. Jim DeMint (R-SC) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) have agreed to accept the boxes of petitions at a news conference set for 2 p.m. on September 9, and will conduct the boxes to the office of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. House GOP leader John Boehner (R-OH) and Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) will deliver copies of the signatures to the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Other lawmakers to appear at the conference will be announced later.

President Obama is set to deliver an address on health care to Congress on the evening of September 9.

"We obviously will be in the right place at the right time," SRN VP/News & Talk Programming Tom Tradup said. "This petition drive represents an unprecedented melding of terrestrial radio, new media including the Internet, and traditional retail politics as our hosts deliver to Congress over 1.2 million signatures on the hottest political and moral issue of 2009."
