Obama Says Talk Radio Impacting Health Care Debate

CLEVELAND -- July 24, 2009: Discussing health-care reform at a "town hall" Q&A, President Obama said, "You know, all those folks who are out there saying, we can't afford this; this is socialism; this will lead to government-run health care; all the folks who are getting ginned up on Talk radio and some of these cable news shows, you know, I have to say that they have an effect on members of Congress."

The event was held yesterday in the Cleveland suburb of Shaker Heights. Per a Washington Post transcript, Obama said the comments on Talk radio and cable news make members of Congress "nervous." He continued, "So they need to hear from folks who are saying, in a very common-sense way, this is something we can do."

Obama also said it's "OK" that a health care reform bill may not be produced in the Senate before the August recess. He said, "I just want people to keep working, just keep working."

Hey Milo9:

What about Air America? What about (taxpayer supported) NPR? The fact that left wing talk radio can't seem to generate a decent sized audience is not Rush Limbaugh's or Glenn Beck's fault. If the station owners in this country could get enough people to listen to liberal talk that they could make a decent profit they'd put it on the air in heartbeat.

Frankly, with ABC, CBS, NBC/MSNBC, CNN and PBS all in the tank for Obama conservative talk radio and FOX News are the only reasons the Constitution hasn't been shredded by now.

Anyone that thinks the left has no access to the media, is foolish.

And having people "ginned" up about a matter as important and potentially costly as this program is a bad thing?

The president is correct. Congress is probably getting nervous, but not for the reason implied by Obama. It's because lawmakers are being railroaded into a national health plan that their constituents don't want. Also, maybe the president should get "ginned up" on the U-S Constitution and the history of America to learn about the foundation of our country: the freedoms which he is trying to take away in order to further his socialist agenda.

It's the left that is being denied the right of rebuttal because AM Talk Radio is owned and controlled by right wing wackos such as CJ.
